The island will see an increase in visitor arrivals in 2023 from the United States.
That’s the prediction being made by tourism officials following a ceremony, held at the Sangster’s International Airport on February 27, to welcome passengers who arrived in Montego Bay on Frontier Airlines’ first-ever non-stop flight from Denver, Colorado.
This non-stop flight service is among the expanded flight offering of the low-fare air carrier which currently offers Jamaica flights from nine US cities.
The additional weekly, departure cities include St. Louis, this service started on February 23, Chicago which commences on March 6, and a non-stop service from Dallas to commence in May.
“I am pleased to welcome this new service from Frontier as we continue to grow our partnership together”, Jamaica’s tourism minister Edmund Bartlett said as he addressed an audience of tourism stakeholders at the welcome reception.
“It has been a banner week for Jamaica and the airline with our launches in St. Louis, Chicago, and Denver. It is a testament both to our strong partnership and the continued strong interest in Jamaica as a destination for U.S. travelers.”
Senior Vice President of Commercial at Frontier Airlines, Daniel Shurz added,
“Our expansion to three popular American destinations provides a tremendous opportunity for Jamaicans who are eager for even more convenient and affordable travel options.
Furthermore, we are thrilled to bring additional tourism and economic impact to Jamaica through this new service which will allow even more travelers from the U.S. to enjoy the island’s stunning beaches, communities, and resorts.”
To close the welcome reception, the Frontier Airlines flight crew was presented with gifts by officials from the Jamaica Tourist Board.
