Sangster International Airport sets new record with over 5.2 million passengers in 2023

Sangster International Airport (SIA) has reported more than 5.2 million passengers in 2023, marking a remarkable increase of 19.6% compared to the previous year, 2022.

This figure also represents a substantial growth compared to 2019.

MBJ Airports Limited highlights that December 2023 experienced a 13% surge in traffic compared to December 2022, with 500,000 passengers using SIA during that month.

MBJ Airports Limited also expects the winter season of 2023/2024 to maintain high passenger volumes from January to March.

In the meantime, MBJ Airports Limited is encouraging online check-ins and the printing of boarding passes before passengers arrive at the airport to address potential congestion and minimize wait times.

Passengers with a mobile boarding pass and no checked bags are encouraged to proceed directly to the security checkpoint, while those with bags should head to their respective airlines for drop-off.

In addition, the airport operator is urging collaborative efforts from partners, including hotels and tour operators, to facilitate transportation arrangements that allow passengers to arrive at the airport well in advance for check-in.
