More couples will take romantic vacations in 2023, says Sandals

Resort chain, Sandals Resorts International is predicting that more American couples will make romantic getaways a priority in 2023.

That’s according to the findings of a recently concluded study administered by the company’s consumer trend-spotting arm, Sandals Institute of Romance.

The report, which has been prepared in collaboration with Wakefield Research company, notes that more American couples are prioritizing romance at any cost.

Some of the key findings include 58 percent of American travelers saying that inflation will not stop a romantic vacation with their partners, 63 percent saying they are likely to take a romantic vacation in 2023, and 42 percent saying romantic activities are one of the last things to cut in an economic downturn.

While the findings did reveal that people expect to be busier this year in comparison to 2022, the desire for romantic getaways is at an all-time high in America especially among millennials, accounting for 79 percent of the survey respondents.

In a recent interview about the study’s findings, Sandals Resorts’ Director of Wedding & Romance, Marsha-Ann Donaldson-Brown says,

"The findings from our latest love study are invigorating and compelling, as Americans confirm their commitment to nurturing their relationships in the coming year – which is why we're celebrating 2023 as the 'Year of We'.

Getting away from daily life, free from distractions and stresses, inspires people to focus on what matters most, with the majority of couples agreeing they feel closest to each other while on vacation – and moreover, how this time away energizes the relationship beyond the trip."

The report was published on February 9, a few days shy of the observance of the consumer holiday, Valentine’s Day on February 14.

Sandals Resorts has a long relationship with research. The resort chain is known to frequently solicit the feedback of its guests and the wider, consumer public to improve its on-property programs and guest experience.
