Sangster International Airport welcomed the first flight of Norse Atlantic Airlines from London's Gatwick Airport on Friday, December 1.
CEO of MBJ Airports Limited Shane Munroe expressed excitement in his welcome message, saying, "We are elated that Norse Atlantic Airlines has chosen Montego Bay as one of their first international destinations.
Our aim is to foster your growth; recognizing that you are a new airline, we are thrilled to partner with you and establish a mutually beneficial relationship going forward."
A total of 185 passengers disembarked from the maiden flight and were treated to a lively reception ceremony, featuring live entertainment by the esteemed Sunshine Mento Band.
The welcome team included the Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Richard Vernon; Honorary Consul of the British High Commission, Nick Cunningham; President and CEO of Airports Authority of Jamaica Audley Diedrick, and other senior representatives from MBJ Airports Limited, Jamaica Tourist Board, Ministry of Tourism, Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, Jamaica Vacations Limited (JAMVAC), and the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
During his address at the welcome reception, Commercial Director at Norse Atlantic Airway Baard Nordhagen said, "We are honored by the warm welcome from Montego Bay.
This marks the beginning of a promising relationship."
In a press release recapping the event, Norse Atlantic Airlines noted that its flight to Montego Bay is viewed as an expansion of its network, connecting diverse cultures and communities.
