Montego Bay listed among top beach destinations for summer travel
The vacation sales arm of airline company JetBlue is reporting that Montego Bay is among the beach destinations leading summer travel demand this year.
In a recent statement, President of JetBlue Travel Products Andres Barry said, "We’ve noticed a growing trend in summer travel bookings, with a majority of our customers opting for beach and warm weather destinations, particularly in the Caribbean”.
Caribbean destinations in high demand for summer travel
The other Caribbean destinations that are dominating demand among JetBlue's summer travelers include Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, San Juan in Puerto Rico, Curacao, Aruba, and Nassau in the Bahamas.
Central American country, Mexico also made the list.
Further to this, JetBlue Vacations notes a 66 percent increase in bookings for vacation travel between June and August 2023, this is in comparison to the corresponding period in 2022.
This recent data from JetBlue follows another report from Google Flights which identifies Jamaica as a top destination for couples' getaways in summer 2023.
The internet search company gathered from popular searches made by users based in the United States.
Increases in summer cruise package bookings
In the meantime, the island could see a large cohort of arriving passengers from leading Caribbean cruises as JetBlue Vacations indicates that bookings for cruise packages are rising.
Specifically, bookings for flight-plus-cruise packages for June to August 2023 increased by 36 percent in comparison to the same period in 2022.
In his commentary on the recent upsurge in cruise bookings, Jamaica's minister of tourism Edmund Bartlett said, “The growth of cruise tourism in Jamaica presents a significant opportunity to drive the resurgence of the tourism industry, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the economic growth of our country."
We remain committed to providing world-class experiences to all our visitors and ensuring that Jamaica remains a top tourist destination."
