Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett says Jamaica is prepared to welcome 250,000 visitors from the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland in 2025.
This goal comes on the heels of Jamaica securing its position as the number one Caribbean destination for UK travelers in the previous year.
In 2022, Jamaica hosted nearly 230,000 visitors from the UK and Minister Bartlett expressed his determination to build upon this success.
The minister noted that the introduction of the new Norse flight from Montego Bay, starting in December 2023 is one of the key developments influencing this goal.
This flight will run four times a week from London Gatwick. In addition, there are daily direct flights to Jamaica from Virgin Atlantic Airways, British Airways, and TUI.
The announcement was made during a media event at the Jamaica stand at the World Travel Market in London, also attended by the chairman of the Jamaica Tourist Board John Lynch, and the senior advisor at the Ministry of Tourism Delano Seiveright.
The World Travel Market in London stands as one of the largest tourism trade shows, facilitating approximately £2.8 billion in industry deals and attracting over 51,000 participants from 182 countries and regions, with around 5,000 exhibitors.
