“Luxury lounges open at Sangster International Airport”
Jamaica's newest visitor experience, Club MoBay has unveiled two swanky VIP lounges, one for arriving passengers, the other for persons departing the island.
The two state-of-the-art facilities were opened last Saturday at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Club MoBay is a project of former Digicel CEO David Hall and business partner, construction mogul Carlos Moleon. "We are proud to bring these world-class facilities to Montego Bay, and feel that Club MoBay is an important step towards attracting more elite, high-end travellers to Jamaica," says Hall.
Not only does Club MoBay offer the innovative design and extensive facilities that travellers expect of first-class airport lounges worldwide, it also showcases the best of Jamaica through cultural designs and visual displays.
"We envisioned a lounge where passengers could experience a last bit of Jamaica before leaving the island, whether reminiscing via archived newspaper front pages or learning something new culturally, the lounge offers something for both local travellers and tourists," added Hall.
Tourism and Entertainment Minister Dr Wykeham McNeill, who lauded the concept, noted: "Our global destination marketing efforts are strengthened by innovation and ideas that keep the luxury traveller engaged and interested in making Jamaica their preferred vacation spot. VIP Attractions' launch of Club Montego Bay helps to position Jamaica as an even more attractive choice for our high-end and returning tourists."
What you get
Upon landing, visitors will be escorted and fast-tracked to immigration. They will get a cold towel and refreshments while waiting in the arrival lounge for their luggage, or be accompanied to their ground transportation.
High-end travellers can also make use of VIPs phone-rental services. Through a simple contract they can call, from a number they will receive before arrival, anywhere in the world with a 100-minute starting balance. Top-up will be easy if additional minutes are needed. There are no incoming call charges, no network problems, and no large roaming bills, but there is an information pack with useful numbers.
The departure lounge consists of showers, a premium bar, complimentary drinks and snacks, unlimited free Wi-Fi via high-speed Internet access, state-of-the-art business centre, children's area, and a spa offering express treatments, all in culturally themed specialty rooms. Guests will also enjoy fast-track access through security and immigration, as well as a personal escort to their departure gate.

Located in the departure terminal between Gate 9 and the Red Stripe Café, Club Kingston is set to open officially at Norman Manley International Airport soon. Access to Club MoBay is free to business and first-class passengers of partner airlines such as Caribbean Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Transaero, Neos and Condor. For one-time access, other passengers pay US$30 for adults and US$15 for children ages two-12. The lounge is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
