After my experience at Club Mobay I can see why anyone would want to take a staff member home. I was greeted with a friendly smile as I approached the booth for the departure gate at the Montego Bay Airport. The representative quickly looked up my reservation and gave me a pass. She then escorted me to the departure gate, where I was quickly whisked through immigrations and customs to the VIP lounge.

The lounge had a very modern look. The walls were decorated with photos of Jamaican celebrities, photos of travel location, fruits, artifacts, cultural icons, national heroes and fun facts about the island. One could walk around the lounge and get a history lesson.

Kristine, then introduced me to Ziggy who would be my attendant in the lounge. He greeted me with an infectious smiled and joked that he was Ziggy without the “dreads” referring to the famous Marley son. He took my drink order and told me to feel at home. There were snacks and food in the VIP lounge including cocktail patties, sandwiches, pasta, salads, and sushi. There were also alternatives for vegetarians including callaloo patties and veggie sandwich.

The free WIFI connection in the lounge was fast; I used my laptop to catch up on email. They also had computers in the business center. There was a spa where lounge visitors could get a massage.

Throughout my stay in the lounge the staff greeted me with a sincere smile and asked if I needed anything. A few engaged in conversation about my stay and asked if I enjoyed my time on the island. The staff reflected the genuine warmth of the Jamaican people that you wanted to “bottle” and take home.
