Popular tourist attraction in Saint Thomas Bath Fountain has been upgraded.
Phase one of the $45.5-million Bath access road rehabilitation project is complete and the new roadway was officially opened on 19 July by Jamaica's Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Minister Bartlett said the improved access road will make the experience at Bath Fountain smoother for visitors and he expects that the rehabilitation project will increase the number of visitors to the natural mineral spa.
“Visitors will be exposed to a broader range of community tourism experiences focused on cultural and heritage assets, enhancing Jamaica's quest to promote the island as a multifaceted destination,” he also noted.
Member of Parliament for Saint Thomas Eastern Dr. Michelle Charles also expressed excitement about the spa's potential in the local tourism industry. She highlighted the spa's natural healing properties and peaceful surroundings, offering an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Dr. Charles also emphasized that the renovated roadway will bring economic growth, job opportunities, and sustainable development to the local community.
Various distinguished guests attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including the Chairman of the Bath Fountain Hotel and Spa Councillor Michael McLeod, and the Mayor of Morant Bay. Councillor Hubert Williams.
